This was my first trip out this year with the specific intention of focusing on the creative aspect of my photography. It was an arduous hike up to Derwent Edge in the baking 30 degrees heat, but I think the end result was well worth the effort. Luckily, the intensity of the sun was diffused by the hazy atmosphere and that meant that I was able to manage the lighting with less difficulty. Ironically, this was my strongest version of this scene, yet it was the only one where I did not use any grad filters.

I am lucky to live so close to the Beeston Weir Fields as it is a location that frequently has a build up of mist when the night skies are cool and clear. The mist on this occasion seemed to gather and thicken up as the sun began to rise. It was such a pleasure to photograph and witness.

I was driving home with a takeaway pizza when I saw some very interesting clouds beginning to form over the River Trent area of Beeston. There was no way that I was going to miss this sunset for the sake of a pizza, so I dropped the pizzas at home, grabbed my camera kit and hot footed it to Beeston Lock. I am glad I did because I just managed to get there in time - and when I finally arrived home my luke warm pizza never tasted so good!

I took this shot on the final day of August on the footpath that separates the River Trent from Attenborough Nature Reserve. The Trent floodplain is prone to developing low lying mist on clear, still late summer/autumn early mornings. This view is looking towards Barton in fabis.

Whenever snow falls in my local area, I head out to the nearest most photogenic location. For me, that is the area of Beeston Lock Cottage, which looked like a Christmas card on 29th December 2020. Luckily, I just managed this single photograph before the furthest lamp went out.
