I enjoyed a nice stroll around the Bowdoin Campus this evening. There's something in me that is screaming to capture every last snowy scene I can before we head into spring. These blue hour shots are my favorite in the winter, as the snow takes on a special quality.

A maple tree gracefully carries the weight of last night's snow on it's branches. An old ship captain's house can be seen in the background.

Many of you know that this is where I make a living, tending bar and waiting tables at the Sea Dog. It's hard work and the pay isn't amazing, but I love it and have the pleasure of working with some very cool people. It's also one of the prettiest locations in Maine.
The iconic Bowdoin Mill overlooks the Androscoggin River right at the head of tide, Brunswick Falls, and the Route 201 Bridge. The windows of Sea Dog face east, filling the restaurant with the light of the morning sunr. In the summer, there are few better places to relax and enjoy a beer or cocktail than outside on the deck. Wait until afternoon, as the sun sinks behind the bridge and lights up the mist rising from the waterfalls and cascades below the dam. Don't forget to keep an eye out for our resident bald eagles. We've seen them catching fish, hanging out in the trees, and even walking on the ice.
I had envisioned this photo for a while, just waiting for the snow to come and pretty up the landscape. I shot this during the 'blue' hour before sunrise, as I think snow is at its most beautiful during this time, and the building creates a nice contrast. Kim came along this morning, and it was great to have her along and then sit down together for breakfast sandwiches and coffee at Little Dog. Love you, Kim!

Well, who knew an iPhone could take such a good photo. I managed to get out in the storm today, but not to take photos, to go cross-country skiing behind my house. It was a wickedly intense storm, with about 8 inches of fresh snow by this evening.
