Looking ENE from near foot of Preston St. (i.e. near present-day boat harbor just upstream from Great Lawn).
.
Crane transloading conveyor belt sections from truck to barge (or possibly vice versa - I don't recall for sure) at Port of Louisville Terminal, 333 River Road (near foot of Preston St.).
This terminal was completed about 1954 and was used to receive, store and forward freight via barge, truck and rail..
Soon after this photo was taken, the terminal was closed, the buildings demolished, and this section of the riverfront became part of Waterfront Park.
JFK and Big Four Bridges in distance..
