This dragonfly was literally hanging on during a windy afternoon... surprisingly enough it was easier to get close and get pictures during this period of high winds than on a calm day... it seemed the dragonflys were content to stay in place holding on to a branch or blade of grass rather than fly around in the stiff breeze...

The Monarch butterflies were out in force this particular day at the English Gardens... unfortunately the only flowers they seemed to be attracted to were the orange ones.... as nice as they are, it would have been nice to get a few shots of them against a flower that offered more contrast... maybe next year...
