This male Great Horned Owl, was perched not far from the nest, basking in the early morning sun.

You may notice a zip-tie in the foreground of the picture - holding 2 sticks together... there is a bit of a story behind this shot...

the day prior, there was a major wind storm that blew thru the area, and actually knocked the owl nest out of the trees... thanks to a couple of local photographers (you know who you are).. they took the time and effort to salvage the nest and secure it back in the trees (albeit a fair bit lower and with the use of zip-ties)…

thanks to their efforts, the owlets took to the next and survived the effects of the wind storm... Great job guys..
