Taken back in 2014, while we were on a tour of eastern Europe. Budapest is a wonderful city, often overlooked by tourists... which is not a bad thing for those who go there..

The Hungarian Parliament Building, which translates to House of the Country or House of the Nation, also known as the Parliament of Budapest after its location, is the seat of the National Assembly of Hungary, a notable landmark of Hungary and a popular tourist destination in Budapest. It lies in Lajos Kossuth Square, on the bank of the Danube. It is currently the largest building in Hungary and it is still the tallest building in Budapest.

Taken last April while on a river cruise down the Rhine.
our cruise ship actually parked just to the left of this picture along the same side of the river as the cathedral. Right after dinner there was about 2 hours we had before the ship set sail again, just enough time to cross the bridge and take a few shots of this beautiful scene.

May 2014 - Something a little differnt for me...
While on a wonderful trip to Eastern Europe this spring we spent 4 days in Budapest, Hungary where one of the key attractions was how they light up key landmarks at night from about 9pm to 1am.

We were fortunate that our hotel was directly across the river from Castle Hill and Buda Royal Palace.... this picture was actually taken from the side of the Chain Bridge using a tripod and a 2.5 second exposure.

About the Buda Royal Palace - The grandiose pile of the Királyi Palota (the Royal Palace) is the Phoenix of Budapest - it's been burnt to the ground and rebuilt countless times, and was almost gone in WWII. But these days, looking at the magnificent stone edifice and haughty dome, it's hard to believe it was ever in jeopardy.

Three of Budapest's premier museums are housed in the Royal Palace. The Hungarian National Gallery has rooms of paintings by Hungarian artists ranging from medieval times through to the 20th century. The Budapest History Museum is famed for its Gothic rooms and statues, unearthed in the 1960s during a renovation of the castle. The National Library holds a collection of all Hungarian works.

This is a picture of the Chain Bridge taken from the Buda side looking across to the Pest side... with the top of Saint Stephen's Basilica in the background.

The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the River Danube between Buda and Pest, the western and eastern sides of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Designed by the English engineer William Tierney Clark, it was the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Hungary, and was opened in 1849.

It is anchored on the Pest side of the river to Széchenyi (formerly Roosevelt) Square, adjacent to the Gresham Palace and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and on the Buda side to Adam Clark Square, near the Zero Kilometer Stone and the lower end of the Castle Hill Funicular, leading to Buda Castle.
