Common east of the Rockies in woods, suburbs, and parks, the Eastern Screech-Owl is found wherever trees are, and they’re even willing to nest in backyard nest boxes. These supremely camouflaged birds hide out in nooks and tree crannies through the day, so train your ears and listen for them at night. (All about birds).
This particular screech owl can be regularly relied on to be found in this particular location.. most of the time with his eyes relatively closed (as per this pic).

March 2015 - Last weekend with the help of a fellow photographer I was finally able to locate and capture my first images of an Eastern Screech Owl.
Unfortunately for the most part all he did was sit there and sleep, however I was lucky enough to catch him in a flurry of activity as he yawned... right before he went back to sleep.
Hopefully the coming weeks will allow for a shot with a little more action, maybe even an open eye...
