BDI Australian Beaches
These images were taken in June 2012 and while the location is idyllic recent trips to beaches north from Old Bar, near Taree through to Coffs Harbour reveal serious beach erosion along this stretch of coast.
Here at Grassy Head the timber steps have been totally undermined with access to the beach now very difficult due to the substantial drop from the top of the dune down to the beach. Littoral rainforest at the back of the beach appears to be threatened should this erosion continue through winter.

Just a few littoral rainforest trees are left here in the south eastern corner of Scotts Head Beach. Trees that have been growing for many years have been undermined and others seem likely to suffer the same fate before the end of winter.
This shot shows the proximity of several buildings and caravans to the erosion zone. A new ramp and steps have been built to permit access to the beach.
