British Railways built (later class 42) Warship B-B diesel-hydraulic D868 "Zephyr" at Crewe - c.1963.
Delivered new on 18/05/1961 to Laira depot, D868 moved to Newton Abbot in June 1966 and then back to Laira on 31/08/1967. It was withdrawn from there in October 1971 after a little more than ten years in traffic, during which it covered approximately 1,000,000 miles in BR service. It was scrapped at Swindon Works (where it was built) on 07/04/1972.

North British built (Glasgow, 1961) Class 43 "Warship" 845 "Sprightly" stands in Trowbridge station with a down parcels train heading towards Westbury - c.1970.
The former D845 was withdrawn around twelve months after this picture was made, and was scrapped at Swindon in May 1972.
