Notes: one of two Winsor & Newton, water colour boxes, used by Miss Isobel Bowden (1908-1986). The colour blocks are in china pans with the colour printed on the side and W & N England, impressed on the base. The large half pans are impressed Reeves School Quality, Made in England. It is shown open with the fold-out mixing tray in the lid and the internal cover open.

Miss Bowden used watercolour illustrate her plant studies, she had several plants named after her, including Blue Mountains Cliff Eyebright (Euphrasia bowdeniae).

Location: Miss Bowden lived in Fletcher St, within walking distance of Wentworth Falls and Valley of the Waters

Notes: one of two Winsor & Newton, water colour boxes, used by Miss Bowden. The colour blocks are in porcelain full and half pans with the colour printed on the base. The brushes are a Raphael, Martre Kolinsky 8413, size 4, purchased from Angus and Robertson for $6.10, dating it post Feb 1966; and a size 4, Da Vinci, finest red sable, made in Germany.

Notes: Silk embroidered handkerchief, sent from Egypt to his mother by L/Cpl Henry (Harry) Paish, 4 Infantry Brigade, 7th Company AASC, Gallipoli, Egypt and France.

Format: scan

Date Range: As a driver in the Supply Coy., Harry sailed to Gallipoli from Lemnos on the 'Ascot', the ship stood offshore on 24th April while the landing was made but returned to Cairo when it was realised that the horses and wagons would be of no use. He was then stationed in Cairo until December 1915 before embarking for Marseilles.
