I really am enjoying capturing these East Coast Sunsets in North Yorkshire, this one was shot from the west cliff at Whitby looking out to the North Sea.

Invites to groups and your own comments are always welcome, thank you.

Famous as the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula the long since ruined Whitby Abbey sits on the East Cliff overlooking the North Yorkshire coastal town in its own imposing fearsome manner. It is not difficult to see why Bram Stoker was inspired to base his book upon finding this location, especially if you are climbing the 199 steps under cover of darkness just as he did.

When I shot this one, I had a completely different title in mind for it but once I had processed it and saved it the song Under Cover of the Night came on the radio while I was finishing working on this so thank you to the Rolling Stones for the inspiration for the title, it is with respect that this photo shares its title with the name of one of your best songs.

This photo was taken from the East Cliff Whitby where the North Sea becomes the River Esk. The structures you can see in the water are flood defences to protect Whitby from Mother Natures worst.
