These rocks are called the "cracked eggs". Endless freeze and thaw cycles have split these boulders open and made them look like eggs that have fallen from the kitchen counter, with a little imagination I might add.
The Bisti is a place that will stimulate your imagination. I hope to return soon and get better light. It was kind of a bleak day during our first visit.
That's how I felt while I was there but afterwards my perception shifted and now I'm happy that the conditions were as they were. The challenge is to make the best of whatever the conditions are.

A more intimate scene depicting autumn colors. The Big Tesuque was overflowing it's banks a little bit following the recent rains and was trickling down the footpath past an aspen sapling.
I was surprised that even a f4 zoom lens could produce out-of-focus bubbles at it's widest f-stop setting. It's all a matter of the right angles and conditions.
