The image of Mona Lisa made of peanut butter and jelly? Portrait of Elizabeth Taylor made from diamonds? Frankenstein from caviar? Whether you appreciate art for the creative medium of self-expression it is…or if you think it’s just plain silly…you’ll be intrigued by the work of Vik Muniz!
Born in São Paulo in 1961, Muniz has made a name for himself in the art world with his characteristic style of creating images using non-art materials. His works have included creations made from thread, wire, cotton, chocolate syrup, caviar, used computer parts and ripped magazine pages. He then photographs them, preserving the image of the work for display.
