I love these English graveyards that are attached to the churches. So old and peaceful. But apparently it wasn't so simple back in the day. Bill Bryson states in his recent book "At Home: A History of Private Life" that "burial grounds grew so full that it was almost impossible to turn a spade of soil without bringing up some decaying limb or other organic relic." Sounds reasonable when you think about it. The churches made a tidy little sum burying people but it's not like their land was infinite. I wonder just how many people are crammed into these little plots.

A real tourist shot this one but I really dug Regents Park. It is so nicely manicured.
