Did a core sample on my bookshelves and plucked this little beauty out of the dust and cobwebs. Steinbeck’s famous novel of “Crisis and Passion.”
From the back cover:
“The Wayward Bus—traveled the back roads through the lush California country-side. Its driver was a man of the land—lusty, hot-blooded, uninhibited. On the bus were a girl who danced at stag parties, a traveling salesman out strictly for laughs, a boy with the sweet sap of manhood urgent in him, a college girl pursuing her secret, passionate quest….”
Whoa baby…..how can you blow by this one without taking a gander inside the jacket? Only 60 cents when originally purchased. Priceless now. What do you think I can get for it on eBay?
Buffdawgus says, “Check it out.”
Who remembers the actress who played Camille in the 1957 movie release?

A young woman, pretty, lively, with a harp as elegant as herself; and both placed near a window, cut down to the ground, and opening on a little lawn, surrounded in the rich foliage of summer, was enough to catch any man’s heart. The season, the scene, the air, were all favourable to tenderness and sentiment.

I was in San Jose last weekend to check out an Art Crumb exhibit at the art museum when I happened to stroll by this church. Turns out it's the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph and was founded in 1803. This is a shot of the dome as seen from the floor of the church. The cathedral was renovated in 1990. It's a very cool remnant of Spanish California.
