I was walking the streets of the Sutter District in Sacramento and found a stretch along L Street where the wall murals were some of the best I've seen.

I got the job. The offer letter came this afternoon via email. I start work on 09-Feb. It is a little scary to return to the work world after almost 3 years of retirement. I'm totally mind-blown how events unfolded over the last year, and am interested to see what lies ahead. A little more money--a little more camera gear--perhaps.
The image is one the murals on the walls at Coit Tower in San Francisco. The window is part of the building. The murals were done under the auspices of the Public Works of Art Project, the first of the New Deal federal employment programs for artists.
I'm not sure what the original thematic plans for the murals were, but when artist Diego Rivera's "Man at the Crossroads" was destroyed by patrons at the Rockefeller Center in New York for the inclusion of Vladimir Lenin in the mural, the local artists got a little bent out, and decided to incorporate leftist ideas into their work--a nice show of solidarity and certainly typical of what the San Francisco art scene has always been about. I think it's a nice bit of Americana.

This is not the place to take that special someone on a first date. Unless of course, you're both mega garlic lovers or you postpone the first kiss until a subsequent date.
My idea of seasoning food is to bring out the flavors in the food, not to let the food play second fiddle to the seasoning. I remember a camping trip, where a friend decided to impress us with his curried rice. He used so much curry that none of us could choke it down. We tried to feed it to the dogs, and even they turned their noses up. We had to bury the stuff out in the woods to get rid of it.
Anyway, if you're a garlic lover, you may want to check out the Stinking Rose on your next trip to San Francisco--just not on that first date.
