Cruising Waldo Road with "the monster with four paws" on a beautiful mid-winter morning. The weather has been incredible in the foothills during February. Bright sunny days with cool mornings and nights. It would be a perfect world if we didn't need the rain to avoid becoming an inferno next summer and fall. Oh well, you gotta play the hand your dealt, and right now, it's a pretty beautiful hand.

In polite company three tends to be a crowd. But apparently not here. This trifecta of Blue Oaks are intertwined like intimate lovers. The perfect triad standing the test of time and the elements.

Alone, or in groups, when it comes to photography, the mighty oak is my favorite of all the trees. Here, an ancient oak sprawls over a patch of barren hillside. This old warrior has obviously witnessed its share of harsh winters, yet it soldiers on, keeping a dutiful watch over the landscape.
Happy Slider's Sunday everyone.

Penn Valley is a nice little rural community located in the lower foothills of Nevada County. This is ranching land with properties sporting some combination of cattle, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, and any other critters on four legs.
What I like most about the area however, is its landscape of shaggy oaks scattered amongst the rolling hills and pastures. If it weren't so darn hot during the summer months, I think I'd politic Marg to move down here. As it is, my band practices in Penn Valley, so I guess that will have to be enough. Them farm animals really appreciate a snappy tune.

As much as I love the winter months in the foothills, there does come a time when I hanker for a spot of springtime color.
This image taken in the spring of 2018 shows local Table Mountain showing off its new spring wardrobe. Table Mountain is the foremost wild flower viewing area in the foothills. I always return from a visit there with a fresh perspective on life.
My archives are my own personal time machine, and allow me to wander around in the past without having to go anywhere outside of the house. I just wish I'd shed a few years in the process.
It's back to winter now--enjoy the color.
