This surely is one of the most wonderful journeys undertaken by a train and it was commemorating the journeys arranged by Sir Nicholas Winton, single-handedly, to rescue as many children as possible from Czechoslovakia before the Nazi onslaught.
Here we must mention others involved in the WINTON project - co-workers Doreen WARRINER and Trevor CHADWICK who organized the transports in Prague during the period when the then *Mr* Winton returned to England to look for people, who would be willing to act as foster parents.
Mrs. Rosa Ehrmann should also be honoured - she made it possible for children, who came from other towns, to live in an apartment in Prague, before the
transports left for England..
Sir Nicholas is now 100 and still active and delighted to meet his "children".
There are now about 5,000 descendants worldwide of these rescued children.
