Station Road, Cambridge. I decided to start my 24-hour journey at the railway station. A lot of visitors begin their trip here. This new cafe had closed and this worker was just sitting there at midnight: having a rest after a busy evening, or merely contemplating life. It can be tough, and even tougher alone. Remember you are not alone.

Tenison Road, Cambridge. The usual visitor route from the railway station is to head up Hills Road towards the city centre. Since I had the whole night to wander around I decided on a detour via Mill Road, a non-tourist, out of town area of Cambridge, but a most cosmopolitan and interesting 'normal' part of the city.

I had just begun the 24 hour photo walk and was already getting anxious about surviving the night. I'm not normally out late into the night and was seriously concerned about walking around at such uncivilised hours. I should have been in bed at home. On the other hand, I was excited to take part in such an experiment. I was determined to document my hometown. Someone had to 'represent' Cambridge:-)

Mill Road, Cambridge. Such a scene looks different in daylight and in colour. I really liked the mood and as I enjoyed the view along came the necessary human interest to complement the street composition. It was going to be a fun night (or so I tried to convince myself) of adventure as I discovered more views like this.
