Although popularly known as the KPEV (Royal Prussian Railway Adminsitration), the Prussian railway system was never formally known as that - apparently staff at Koln depot mistakingly lettered rolling stock as such and KPEV somehow stuck. In fact, the official titles were:
1880-1896: K.P.St.E. (Royal Prussian State Railway);
1896-1918: K.Pu.G.H (Royal Prussian & Grand Ducal Hessian State Railways)
1918-20: P.St.B (Prussian State Railways).
