Designed by Billington and built as LBSCR 57'7" 9 compartment Brake Third No.641 (SR No.4019) to Diagram 201 (SR Diagram 203) at Ashford in 1916, it was withdrawn by BR in 1948 then rebuilt with steel panelling to Diagram 210 specifically for service in the Isle of Wight, No.S2416.
