There are 2.5 million weddings every year; it's not often I get to post a shot that may never have been taken before.

OK, you've probably seen people running out of a church to sparklers or bubbles or doves or rice. But this wasn't daylight; it was late twilight, shot at ISO 6400. What that means is that the dim tungsten interior of the church, not a factor in a daylight shot, is now a bright orange glow framing the couple.

Katie is a chemical engineer at a major phamaceutical company. She says she has to wear *two* containment suits to keep away the nasty stuff she works with; I think it just takes that much to hold back her smile.

Busy day, so I've only processed this picture of the bunch so far -- the last we took.

Utata poses: We were shooting a block and a half away when I saw the sun set behind these trees. I had us run over here and positioned her so II could use the setting sun as a giant hairlight.

Uday, a Shia Muslim and engineer, was glad to see Saddam Hussein deposed, so he made friends with some American soldiers. He translated for them and brought them cold sodas from time to time.

For this, he was shot in the face.

A Staten Island woman learned of his plight, and, with the help of a major charity, she helped Uday receive asylum in America. Eighteen surgeries later, Uday finds peace in taking the Staten Island ferry to his medical appointments, past the Statue of Liberty.

Uday was one of fewer than 1,000 Iraqis to receive political asylum in the U.S. this year.

This shoot was for an annual report of the charity that helped Uday come to America and receive surgery. Posted now that the project is done.

When life hands you 50-mph winds on your wedding day, make … windade?

Both Missy and Charlie were each told about 100 times that bad weather on your wedding day is good luck for your marriage. I have a feeling they won't even need it.
