When doing bird photography, lenses never seem to be big enough... except off course when your subject is a Trumpeter Swan and then ... you wish your lens was not that big. Still, It was impossible to resist that beautiful light and the way it helped feature the delicate nuances of white in the plumage of that Swan. Hope you had a great Easter Sunday. View Large for details.

One of the most friendly Penguin in the Falklands... if you sit down for a second in a close-by colony, they will jump up and down to come and visit you... They are curious, unafraid and have expressions which makes them look adorable. It is one Penguin that is absolutely thrilling to watch.

I was not aware of the origin of the name of the bird but found this interesting piece of information on the following Nature Canada site. naturecanada.ca/what-we-do/naturevoice/endangered-species...

The Bobolink’s common name originates from a poem written by William Cullen Bryant back in the late 19th century. William wrote about a bird he then called Robert of Lincoln. This name was shorten to Bob of Lincoln, and finally became the name it has today: Bob o’Link. The poem was written on account of the bird’s striking appearance. During the breeding season, the male Bobolink looks like it is wearing a reversed tuxedo with a striking yellow cap. The male has black under parts and wings with 3 large white stripes and smaller stripes of browns and yellows. Females have more of a finch-like look with a black and yellow striped body and a pale yellow belly. In non breeding season, the males also share this similar colouration.

Ducks are probably among my favorite photography subjects. Scenes where a usually spooky duck come close by and offer an intimate moment like this one are just icing on the cake. I like to mix up my posting and I was not going to post another duck today but, I could not resist John's request to post more... now be careful what you ask for as I have a lot of ducks photos :)
