This is one of my preferred duck and although I have taken countless number of northern pintail pictures, there is always more for me to take... We are so lucky to have the Esquimalt Lagoon here In Victoria. When things start freezing everywhere else, many ducks are relocating at the lagoon which provides me many of my preferred waterfowl photographic moments of the Winter.

The bird was too far away to get any decent texture or details on the plumage but I liked the overall perspective that this tiny bird was offering in that décor. The bird was hardly bigger than the tip of a little finger, At first I just thought that it was an insect moving into the vegetation and then I realised it was a chick. The youngs were so tiny, it was extremely easy to loose track of them in the vegetation and a challenge to get unobstructed images of them.

A very grey day in Victoria today so, a burst of energy is required to help start up the day.
