1/100 action shots; 1/10 birds in flight
Flickr Lounge: photographer's choice
I took the day trip I've been wanting for years and spent hours photographing sandhill cranes, specifically focusing on cranes in flight. And wouldn't you know it, one of my favorite shots from the day is a different species.
A few hundred sandhill cranes were feeding in the field, and occasionally a hawk would patrol, perhaps thinking the cranes might scare up prey. This beautiful hawk landed on a tree the kestrels had claimed as their own, and the male flew at him. A few seconds later the hawk flew off, vocalizing as it flew. SOOC.
