Flickr Lounge: less is more, minimalism
I just thought it was cool to be able to stand on shore and take a photo of a fish in a lake (Lake Monroe in Southern Indiana). Somehow this shot, completely atypical of my usual fare and nothing near the best of my photos, made it to Explore June 13, 2019 as my first Explored shot--and at #122. :-) It was under 200 views when it hit Explore--when I knew it was on Explore, my numbers were 163/4, so it clearly started with less than that, and it stands at 7342/81 the morning after its day on Explore, though it continues to climb (roughly 2,000 additional views the next three days, more than my total views on shots I like much better). Fun ride for a silly fish.

One of the interesting things about catalpa blossoms is the way the pattern on the inside shows through the flower (like wearing a dark shirt under a sheer white blouse). In this shot I have included a blossom that shows the color from the front and one from the side above it that shows this "see-through" effect. Tree blooming next to pond in southern Indiana, USA.

I suspect this young cottontail had not been on its own very long at all, as all of its actions looked uncertain. This pose in particular makes it look so young and naive and vulnerable. Indeed, young rabbits that haven't yet learned the ways of the world are a menu basic for many species, forcing their mothers to breed early and often to keep up!
My second shot to hit Explore, and this one I actually like. :-)

This is likely the multicolored Asian lady beetle, not a native ladybug, but it looked pretty against the rain-wetted grass. Southern Indiana.

ODC: best friends
I have seen two rabbits in this spot in the evening several different times this summer, and have a hunch they may be the same two rabbits. They are probably fully grown now, though they were both immature my first time to see them. I guess I must be a rabbit photographer. This is my fifth photo to show up in Explore, and my second rabbit to do so.
