It took me almost three years to identify this interesting bloom, but it reminded me of color play and struck me as especially pretty. Flower-of-an-hour, Hibiscus trionum. Northeastern Indiana.

I've been checking these flowers every week to make sure I get to see them bloom; hadn't ever seen the species before. One patch had two flowers surrounded by poison ivy, and one patch had two flowers (including this one). Having not managed to see the species in bloom, I'm not that familiar with them, but I found this view from above interesting. And yes, I made my way back to the ones that required avoiding poison ivy . . .
