Flickr Lounge: repetition
I finally found a flower that didn't have any of the center stars mutilated or blackened, and that had a good number of them. I really like the way this one turned out. False sunflower (Heliopsis helianthoides).

Flickr Lounge: a favorite photo from my archives
I love the spirals in this sunflower. It was growing at the edge of a field of soybeans, not a deliberate planting. My hunch is the seed was dropped or buried by an animal. So . . . not a garden flower but not quite wild, either. This is what I have used as my photo on this site.

I've loved sunflowers all my life, and the perfect symmetry of this one growing on the edge of a soybean field caught my attention.

The petals of the flower were thicker than I expected. Northeastern Indiana.
