The Flickr Lounge: close-up

The predator here is the one-centimeter robber fly known as a gnat-ogre. So that gives some perspective to the size of the flower it is on . . . and the size of the prey it is holding. Handheld, in a breeze, with the Raynox 250 lens. (Cropped to show more detail.) That I got this shot in decent focus feels like a major success. Viewed large you can see more detail of the fly's compound eyes.
