Less than a centimeter long and quick moving when it wants to get away, it isn't the easiest creature to photograph--but it takes a close-up look to see how beautiful it is. On milkweed. It is also called the red-banded leafhopper, but I like the sweet name.
Recropped for a closer view.

This insect has multiple names, including the candy-striped leafhopper. The insect is minuscule and the colors don't show up until you zoom in. Fortunately it was a day that the insects were inclined to sit and bask, because this species usually flees quickly.
