Flickr Lounge: favorite things

Probably my favorite of several hundred shots I took this morning (including shots after the frost was mostly gone). This flower species is 1/2 to 3/4 inch across.

ODC: purple

We've had two frosts, one of them quite light, but the New England asters are trying to compete with the frost asters for bloom time. I like both the present bloom and the darker purple curled petals of the flower that has already bloomed.

This is my last month to do this. I had initially planned to stop with September wildflowers, but once I looked at last year's shots and realized how many flowers were still blooming well into October, I kept going. Now into the last third of October, some of these early ones aren't still blooming--but many of them still are.
