These were beautiful, but disappointing to try to photograph; many attempts brought mediocre results. They're tiny and quite three-dimensional, so depth of field was an issue--but so was the background offering a very low contrast to the frosted flower bracts.

If it had only been five degrees colder, I could have had some really beautiful shots. As it was, they were melting so quickly that each individual flake gave me one single shot, if that, and then it was gone. Most of the time I couldn't even get it in the lens before it was gone, or couldn't get it in focus. A few gave me one quick photo. As you can see, one of these is already mostly melted.
