I have tried in vain for years to photograph this delightful little insect that I rarely see. I think it is a flower fly, but especially in flight it looks like a scaled-down dragonfly. Here it moved around the bee balm for quite some time and allowed me access. If you know bee balm, that gives you some sense of the scale of this insect--much smaller than a dragonfly.

This insect is quite tiny, and as with many of my insect shots, photographed through the Raynox lens. I am delighted with the detail on those wings.
