Day 94/365
I have loved this little waterbird since I first saw it, but have managed only mediocre shots of it. This one, and the birds swimming around it, gave me several good chances.

I had to follow this bee from plant to plant to get any photos, but it was so pretty I had to keep trying.

I was photographing robins in a tree eating berries when a feather flew across the snow in front of me. I caught up to it and took its photo, and then realized what a lovely background snow made. Soon more feathers blew across. I can only imagine a hawk was somewhere enjoying its own breakfast. All of these feathers were photographed in place. The range of shape and color was nice. I don't know the species of the bird that contributed them.
This one looks to me like a pen-and-ink or charcoal sketch. It is a full-color photo.

Day 232/365
I've only seen this insect once, a couple of summers ago, and didn't manage to get good shots of it. This time I saw it from a distance while I was photographing wasps, and I didn't know what I was seeing, but I went to check it out and was happy to find a species I've wanted to see again. I saw two of them. Anthrax georgicus. Apparently they prey on tiger beetle larva, but I haven't seen tiger beetles at the lake. Maybe the flies can tell me where they are!
