I love the eight-spotted forester and was pleased to get really close to this insect. None of the resulting photos was exactly what I wanted, but to me the most amazing part of this photo is that I was exactly as close as it looks like I was. My camera was resting on the flowers perhaps six inches from this moth and it remained unfazed. I do my best not to scare my subjects if possible, but this particular level of ignoring the photographer was quite surprising.
