The Flickr Lounge: photographer's choice
Every summer for about the last decade I have tried for the perfect photo of this lovely little moth. Some summers I see it multiple times; others, once or twice. Often it flees on approach, but more often it is partially hidden and I know if I so much as touch its covering it will flee. Finally, in my second sighting this summer, I found a perfect specimen, willing to sit for its close-up, and I got both antennae and wings in focus.

I had seen several pretty insects but no new-to-me species until coming across this large, lovely moth. Looks like the Salt Marsh Moth (Estigmene acrea).
