Whether my several sightings of a meadowhawk today was one insect or more than one, I don't know. But I did get several sightings, including one close-up. Several times it flew before I could get a photo. Here it settled on a dried flower beside a pond, and I had to work to find a gap large enough to show the whole insect.

The male seemed to deliberately choose places where two leaves came together and each would have a landing spot; twice I saw them flying and saw him land in such a location. I've seen enough dangling females that I thought he looked like a "thoughtful" male.
