CC: pattern interrupted
The pattern of the lilacs and the rhythm of the seasons were both interrupted by snow. I met a man who was probably around sixty, who told me he had lived in Indiana all his life and this is the latest snowfall he has ever seen. I don't know if it is the latest I have seen in terms of dates (I know I've never seen snow in May, but haven't kept track of the latest date in April), but it's surely the latest in terms of what portion of the blooming cycle it hit! Southern Indiana.

A bunch more photos of last week's snow (and overnight thaw and refreeze) on the spring flowers.

Flickr Lounge: weather
This was a special treat. The day before I unexpectedly came across these flowers, still blooming, by far the latest in the year I have found the pink ones. This morning I came out looking for frost (knowing it would snow later in the day, and likely this is the last wildflower day), and there was no frost on the flowers but it was starting to snow already. I chose my path in order to come to these flowers. Since the lighting wasn't very good yet, nor was there much snow on them yet, I had to come back to them later, but am glad I got one good photo.
