The aircraft was ordered by the Royal Air Force in July 1943 and was delivered to RAF Colerne in Wiltshire in July 1944 to 39 Maintenance unit, at that time the Spitfire would have been a single seat fighter it was not until restoration of the plane to airworthy condition in about 1984 that it was turned into a two seater
