PEI's iconic red sandstone beaches are currently (when I took this photo in January 2025) topped with layers of transparent ice or sprinkled with white pebbly ice from the surf. Meanwhile, the sea itself begins to develop a hard icy skin as winter temperatures finally begin to find their new range below the freezing point of water.
