Traditionally the first robin marks the return of spring. But here on the northern prairie, we get excited by the first Western Meadowlark. And they started showing up about two weeks ago, a little earlier than usual.

I wasn't as close as I would have liked, but a 1.4x teleconverter on my 500mm helped me close the gap, and with post processing involving Photoshop, Topaz DeNoise, and ON1 Resize, I was able to crop this shot significantly and still retain good detail.

Yep. Spring is here!
