The building with the impressive roof on the left is the Yantai Railway Station. In the right background is the CIMC Raffles shipyard with four offshore drilling rigs under construction. The taller of the two gantry cranes is "Taisun" (泰山 tàishān), the World's largest gantry crane with a lifting capacity of 20,000 metric tonnes.

Quick shot before lunchtime. The Dongshan Hotel is one of the older hotels in Yantai, so even if it has a prime location at the seashore, one should not expect prime rooms.
The park belonging to the hotel grounds was recently being redecorated by erecting some classic Chinese styled pavilions.

Pretty windy and icy cold - shot was taken on one of Yantai's more rocky beaches. The white stuff on the beach in the left foreground is snow.
View it larger on a black background - 15s exposure with the camera facing into the storm - longer was impossible because the camera vibration on the tripod caused by the strong wind was too much. Shooting in the opposite viewing direction I could go to the limits of the camera with a 60sec exposure.

The lighthouse of Yantai is located on Yantai Mountain. This lighthouse is the landmark of Yantai - and the observation platform makes it a great location for shooting panorama photos of Yantai.
