This is a German Navy Gannet anti-submarine warfare airplane, UA+113, on static display at the Nordholz "Aeronauticum" naval aviation museum.

Quite unique on the Gannet are the two counterrotating props, each powered by it's own turbine engine. The complete power plant was called an Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba, consisting of two Armstrong Siddeley Mamba driving the counterrotating props through a combining gearbox. The Double Mamba provided 3,145 shp.

The use of coaxial, counterrotating props eliminated the prop torque moment as long as both props received the same amount of power.

And the coaxial arrangement meant that the plane could be flown on one engine (e.g. to save fuel and extend the range) without the adverse effect (yaw moment) that occurs when twins with wing mounted engines are flown as "single".

NATO Code "Fitter K".

The Su-22 was used as a fighter-bomber and recon plane by the NVA of the former GDR.

The plane in Nordholz is manufacturer's number 25512 and shows NVA markings of the JBG-77 (fighter bomber wing 77), who started using this plane in December 1984.

German Navy Percival Pembroke, 54+08, on static display at the Nordholz "Aeronauticum" naval aviation museum.

Powered by two 9-cylinder radial engines "Alvis Leonides 127" with 550hp each, the Pembroke was a reliable airframe until they all had to be retired in 1972/73 due to material fatigue in the wing spars.
The German Navy had 6, the German Airforce had 23 of them.

"NICHT SCHIEBEN" means "Don't push". Probably the nose of this Hunting Percival Pembroke C.Mk.54 is too weak to take any pushing force....
