The French Armee de l'Air Mirage 2000C RDI (5-OP/508)taking off from RAF Fairford followings its participation at the 2006 RIAT flying display where its performance was immaculate. Contrary to regulations, the pilot did his best to show the crowd her top side.

The US Marine Corps Bell/ Boeing MV-22B Osprey (6391) stole the show at RIAT 2006 where it marked its UK flying display debut.
A cross between a helicopter and a fixed wing aeroplane, the Osprey's rotor blades can tilt mid-air enabling it to take off vertically like a helicopter and then reconfigure to fly like a normal aircraft. Not only does this allow it to reach speeds twice as fast as a helicopter but it also enables it to carry heavier payloads and fly at higher altitudes.
