HMS Richmond, a Royal Navy frigate, acted as escort for flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth during the Royal Navy's carrier strike group deployment from Portsmouth to Pacific Ocean and back
Often at the front of the Carrier Group, the ship carried out anti-submarine warfare, provided air defence and conducted a number of defence engagements.She also managed to peel off the carrier Group and visit several ports for diplomatic purposes; including Malta. Due to the frequent albeit perioidical incursions by the Spanish Navy's into British Gibraltar's Territorial Waters, the Royal Navy's Gibraltar Squadron monitors such events and enforces its jurisdiction over them.
