More than 65 Colorado National Guard service members competed in the 2016 Colorado National Guard The Adjutant General State Marksmanship Match Aug. 26-28 on Fort Carson, Colorado.
During this 3rd annual three-day event, participants engaged long and short range targets with M16/M4 carbine rifles and 9 mm pistols in various matches. Competition included reflexive fire, anti-body armor, "9 minute match," as well as contending for the rifle and pistol "Excellence in Competition" badges.
Additionally, the 20 top ranked competitors received the coveted Governors Twenty tab. The awarding and wearing of the tab is intended to be a tool to increase awareness and interest in the Colorado State Marksmanship Program and become a sought after award for new shooters.
An estimated 17,000 rounds were expended over the three-day event.
