Built in 1949 and opened in 1950, this structure serves the gigantic Pima County from the town of Ajo. Though, officially, the county seat is located in eastern Pima County in the city of Tucson, this courthouse acts as an auxiliary judicial facility for western Pima County. The firm of Blanton and Cole designed this building.
Ajo is an absolutely charming community located in western Pima County between Tucson and Yuma in the vast and lovely Sonoran Desert. It is a mining community that serves as the gateway to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.
