This Colonial Revival courthouse was erected in 1919 with the designs of Selligman and Ellesvard. It is located in the historic community of Blytheville, just south of the Missouri Boot Heal. The structure was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996, and is alternatively known as the Chickasawba District Courthouse of Mississippi County.

Mississippi County is one of ten Arkansas Counties with two seats. The other county seat here is Osceola.
