User / courthouselover / Old Lincoln County Courthouse (Lincoln, New Mexico)
141,357 items
This courthouse was erected in 1874, originally as the Murphy-Dolan Store. When that business failed in the late 70s, it was converted into the Lincoln County Courthouse. It was used as such from 1880 until 1913 when the county seat was moved about 40 miles to the west to Carrizozo. It replaced the county's 1869 courthouse that still stands just down the main street from this one.

The structure is a contributing property to the Lincoln Historic District, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. It had been designated a National Historic Landmark District six years prior.
