Originally built in 1850, this courthouse was expanded in 1891 and again in 1910. John Woolly designed the first expansion, and J L. Wilson designed the second. The structure's blending of Italianate, Second Empire, and Gothic Revival elements reflects its years of alterations. The building is the principle property of the Ashtabula County Courthouse Group, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
Located in Northwest Ohio, Jefferson serves as the seat of Ashtabula County, between Cleveland and Erie.
